Hunting Licenses and Permits in UT

Utah Residents
A resident is a person who has lived in the state permanently for 6 months. All Utah residents must have a Basic Hunting License or the Combination License. These licenses allow hunting of small game, including waterfowl species.
Non-Residents
Non-residents over 17 must purchase a Basic Hunting License or the Combination License.
Youth Hunting Licenses
Utah residents and non-residents aged 17 or under are eligible for a reduced-fee hunting license. Youth hunters under 16 must hunt with a parent, a legal guardian, or person aged 21 or older.
Senior Hunting Licenses
Utah residents aged 65 or older may purchase reduced-fee Basic Hunting Licenses or Combination Licenses.
Disability Licenses
Utah offers hunters special licensing accommodations with disabled individuals.
Veteran and Military Licenses
Active-duty military personnel stationed in Utah for a minimum of 30 days can buy a resident hunting license. Additionally, active-duty military personnel that are Utah residents but stationed in other states don’t need to buy a hunting license while on leave.
Migratory Waterfowl Requirements
Hunters aged 16 or older must buy a Utah Migratory Bird Permit and Federal Duck Stamp when hunting migratory waterfowl. The permit is proof of participation in the Harvest Information Program (HIP).
License Expiration
Utah hunting licenses are valid for 365 days from purchase.
